I think the server run out of I/O quota imposed by our hosting company http://linode.com with whom we 'currently have' $25 monthly plan (I changed to hourly billing recently and I'm not sure how this one will work out).
This caused SQL server started getting drive access errors and crashed. (The only possible outcome of I/O quota in relation to SQL server.)
If this theory is true, rebooting the server would fix the problem, which it did ;)
To reduce the probability of this issue the hosting server needs upgrade in software or hardware, or both.
To ensure quicker recovery in the future, we can purchase this:
Linode Managed
Let us worry about your infrastructure, so you can get back to worrying about your business. Linode Managed helps keep your systems up and running with our team of Linode experts responding to monitoring events, so you can sleep well.

Linode Managed includes 24/7 monitoring and incident responses, backups and Longview Pro. +$100/mo per Linode.

At the moment we have 5 Patrons each chipping in $1 a month. Patronage via PayPal should work on iOS devices, they fixed it some time ago. Thank you :)

That explanation is much too complicated. Just say you forgot to pay the electric bill. ;-)

That would be incorrect. I simply have other priorities than supporting this forum for free, and spending quality weekend time with my friends and family in real life takes priority over spending time fixing technical issues with this forum. This is obviously a problem for some of you, so I present an idea of a solution ;)
