so my commander is {Oloro, Ageless Ascetic} and my 1st 7cards are

x3 {Swamp}
x1 {Pithing Needle}
x1 {Phyrexian Obliterator}
x1 {Putrid Imp}
and {Bond of Agony}

.... GG??

1st turn gain 2, play {Swamp} cast {Bond of Agony} pay 30 life?

is {Oloro, Ageless Ascetic} and {Bond of Agony} a synergy?

thanks

MtgCollector1337

yes. Both benefit each other, which can cause you to win turn two.
By gaining 2 life, you can pay 19, since your ooponent lost 1 due to Oloro, which makes them go to 0, and you to 3.
{Sanguine Bond} would go well with that deck, if you don't pull off the combo turn two.

No, since {Bond of Agony} has X in its mana cost you need to pay X mana. You can't play 1 black to deal 19 life first turn, that would be ridiculously broken.
You can actually... The value of x is 0 until given a value

If you have to pay mana AND life {Bond of Agony} is useless. Here's why,
{Devil's Play}
{Volcanic Geyser}
And last but not least and in colour,
{Exsanguinate}
One extra mana, you don't pay life, you hit everybody. Oh, and you gain it all too. Correct me if I'm wrong but {Bond of Agony} is garbage. Which is sad cause I like the flavour.

5/1/2006   You can't choose an X that's greater than your life total.
5/1/2006   You can choose an X that's equal to your life total. If you do, you'll pay that much life when the spell is cast and will lose the game before it resolves.
4/15/2013   You must pay both X life and {X}{B}. For example, if you want each other player to lose 2 life when Bond of Agony resolves, you must pay {2}{B} and 2 life.

so just a question about llama's notes from gatherer. he says you can pay all the life you have, and you will lose before it resolves. I thought sba's would not interrupt a spell in the middle of resolving. feel free to yell at me for thread jacking, but the ruling seems connected.

You pay the life as an additional cost.  Costs are paid, then the spell sits on the stack for SBA's to be checked and players to get priority before it resolves, just like any other spell.

ah thank you remillo. so its not interrupting the spell resolving, its before its started to resolve at all.

I posted a giant thing explaining that already...
