Home made trail mix is awesome. Base it around your favorite nuts, preferably unsalted. I like to add a cereal like Kashi, but not too much because I like to keep soy protein low. It's not terrible for you, but is in do many foods you need not add it. A little *Dark* chocolate. Has good antibiotics and contrasts your other flavors.

If you need to eat out, I recommend to vegetarian. How meat is cooked is a big factor in how healthy it is, and you should never leave it up to a corporation to have your best interesting regards to that. It's actually easier than you may think to eat vegetarian out and still tastes awesome.

Make sure you portion right. Any meal should consist of mostly veggies, and very little meat.

I'm traing for Spartan race and constantly watch foods. If you have any questions, or find something interesting to share, let me know! I love talking fitness and nutrition.

Spartan Race does a daily recipe that's always healthy. It's a good thing to sign up for too.

I would say to eat as you normally do. Any changes made to your diet should be permanent. If you stop eating healthy once you reach your goal you will gain weight again. Either eat normally and just exercise more or if you eat unhealthily, make some permanent dietary changes while also working out more.

Go online and figure out what your calorie needs are based on your age/weight/activity level. Take that # and cut 10-15% and start doing some daily cardio. You will slim up pretty quick. Some other good tips. Track everything. Myfitnesspal is a great and easy tracking app/site. Second, eat your calories not drink them. Water will be a big part in losing weight. Lastly is find excerise you enjoy and can do daily. If you hate it, it's much easier to skip it. Hope this helps.

Try this: do not change anything, just leave 20% of what you normally eat uneaten. In other words, only eat 80% of what you normally eat. It worked for me.

If you're willing to look in to it and actually put in effort, I've known a lot of people that have lost huge amounts of weight switching to Low Carb lifestyles.  I won't say that you need to switch to the stereotypical BACON ALL THE TIME diet, but cutting back on grains and sugars, or just outright eliminating them, could go a long way.  If you're interested, I could send you a few book titles to check out.

No.  Cutting out all of one food group never works.  You need a balanced diet to lose weight and be healthy.  Don't over eat on one though.

Generally, weight loss is tied to caloric intake and usage.  You could eat completely unhealthy things, but still lose weight from the calorie difference.
Also, you'll note it's called Low Carb, not No Carb.  Everything is fine in moderation.  However, I will say that the USDA food pyramid we grow up with is a load of hooie that isn't actually based in fact.
I'm just sharing what I've known to work for people.  But in the end, everyone is different and bodies have different needs.  Find something that works for you and go with it.
