About to start my prerelease need to know, does using {cloudshift} on a creature targeted by a kill spell fizzle the spell?

Greg54js

I'm going to say no because cloudshift resolves first putting the creature back on the battlefield and then the kill spell resolves targeting it.

Edit: if it said return the permanent at the beginning of the next end step, the kill spell would fizzle

Poof

As has been stated in a few recent topics on here once an object changes zones it's a brand new object the the spell that was targeting it has no memory of it and will fizzle

BlackJester

It will fizzle (not resolve for lack of a legal target).

If a permanent changes zones and returns, it is considered a new object.  Even if it happened within the same spell.

Also, any spells that have that "flickered" permanent as the only target will be countered.
