Can you target a planeswalker with the damage portion of it?

You cannot target planeswalker a with direct damage like that.  You would technically target the player and then state you want the damage transferred to the PW

I thought he said creatures and opponents.  So no you can't target a player and/or transfer damage to a PW.  Sorry for the confusion
