If you really think about it each successive year of your life is shorter

actually it isnt, each year is 365.25 days, no matter how old you are
it may seem shorter however, as one year becomes 1/45 of your life instead of 1/17 of your life, so it seems shorter because it is a smaller fraction of your entire life
