So I've been playing a little while and have made a huge card combo. I will play hidden strings with tormented soul already on my field and cipher hidden strings onto tormented soul. I attack with tormented soul and do player damage since it cannot be blocked. Then replaying hidden strings due to the cipher I untap tormented soul and proceed to attack with it again in an endless loop. The result is the destruction of every opponent. Are my actions of attacking with this combo legal??

Sardok

You have only one combat phase per turn in normal circunstances. This means that you can only attack once; anything beyond that is illegal.

Due to the apparent acknowledgement of your opponents that this is legal, I highly suggest you tell them this as well.

That is a no-go as sardok said
You only get a single combat phase per turn where you attack, get blocked or not, and do damage
This is why cards like  {Aurelia, the Warleader} and  {Aggravated Assault} are so important

Just because you untap something doesn't mean you can attack again

Not trying to belittle you at all but this is pretty basic rules for the game (which I am impressed that you understood cipher so well but missed this so kudos on that)

If you need any other clarification, please ask because I am sure at some point we have all played the game wrong...

Thanks. I wasn't sure. Anyway, I did figure out that if I have my skull snatcher out in play I can then tap a swamp an use ninjutsu to attack again and again for as many untapped swamps I have.

even with ninjitsu you cant have unlimited combat phases. youll still only get one a turn. {skullsnatcher} can only attack once a turn.

Shackles

To clarify: My goal with skullsnatcher is not unlimited attacks, but to attack multiple times by tapping swamp land and using ninjutsu. Also, tormented soul would be attacking, not skullsnatcher.

You cant. You get one combat phase, and you can ninjutsu once. This returns your creture to your had and puts {skullsnatcher} on the field attacking. Then once combat phase ends, you cant attack anymore. Ninjutsu simply puts skullsnatcher on the field attacking, you still only get that one single atack phase

Remillo

Basically: This isn't Yu-gi-oh.  All steps of combat, from declaring attackers, blocking and damage happen at the same time for all of the creatures you want to attack with.  Unless you have an effect that gives you multiple combat phases, you just have one per turn.

FustyDavorite

The only time you may attack in a turn is during Combat Phase:

506.1.: The combat phase has five steps, which proceed in order: beginning of combat, declare attackers, declare blockers, combat damage, and end of combat. The declare blockers and combat damage steps are skipped if no creatures are declared as attackers or put onto the battlefield attacking (see rule 508.4). There are two combat damage steps if any attacking or blocking creature has first strike (see rule 702.7) or double strike (see rule 702.4).

Combat Phase is sandwiched in between to main phases, where you may play spells that cannot be played at instant speed. After combat damage step, there's  end of combat step, and then the turn proceeds to postcombat main phase. You cannot attack again for the rest of that turn. Simply because a creature is untapped does not mean it can attack at any given moment. And in the case of ninjutsu, the ability is activated while the card is in your hand, and when you have another creature on the field attacking and am opponent did not declare a blocker.

As said before you can only attack on your main phase.

There was a combo with the warleader in the combo corner that will give you infinite combat phases from flickering.

Double-O-Scotch

That's because it's Aurelia, not because it's flickered.

If you have a way to Blink Aurelia before the Declare Attackers step of the extra combat phase, it works.  This is because the game will see the returned Aurelia as a different object that hasn't attacked this turn, allowing the Extra combat trigger to happen.  If you can repeatedly blink her, you can get more and more combat phases.

Destore117

Also if you run massive numbers of tokens, you could use  {Breath of Fury} same basic idea, as long as you deal damage and have creatures, you can keep attacking again and again.

The combo is {Derevi Empyrial Tactician}, {Aurelia the Warleader}, and {Isochron Scepter} with a flicker spell on it
