So I'm looking at modern.... Finally

Any ways I wanted to make a pod deck. So I need to know ALL the different types of the deck, and which one is better

I know:
Kiki
Melira

Are major ones but I know there are others

Spencer Addington

This is ConanEdo's department lol.

Melira can deal without having pod. Kiki is better while having Pod. It is more of a reliance and learn to play the deck sort of area.

MacheteMable

I think it comes down a lot to preference. I've had some experience with both and Kikipod tends to be more controlling while meliriapod is more of a grindu midrange deck.

I may be biased as a melira player, but I'd say that Melira not only has more resilience, but also is better primed for the current meta.

Pod tech vs. Pod Need
Resilience vs. Reliance.

Pick your poison.

Biggest problem with Kiki-Pod is that it's still a creature based combo deck. With the rise of UWR with its 8 Bolt/Helix and PtE, it's hard to go off. I agree that Melira is slightly better ATM.

Isn't Melira a creature based combo too?

For Melira, the combo is more of a form of pressure than the main wincon. Melira usually makes sure our opponent can't tap out by threatening combo, but beats down in the end.

From my standpoint, I always was a fan o Kiki pod but that is because of it coming out of no where. It has a better game against control if you learn to you control against it. UWR is better to play against if you're playing Melira, but Kiki is something under the radar to watch out for.

But surely any UWR pilot who is aware of Kiki-Pod's potential need only keep up a couple of bolts to win?
Glen Elendra Archmage, Spellskite, Voice of Resurgence, Restoration Angel, Domri Rade, Reveillark, etc.

So hey. Who wants to have Kiki-Pod beat Melira Pod Twice in Top 8? GP Richmond.

*rolls eyes* The two pod decks both did very well, the mirror match slightly favors kiki-pod. However, I would expect Kiki-Pod is going to have problems once people realize that Tec Edge can wreck a deck that runs {{Fire-Lit Thicket}} and {{Hallowed Fountain}} in the same deck.
Which can also affect the mana bases of other decks. GB Obliterator might become a proper item here, tbh.

But KikiPod played very well in plenty of matchups, not just Melira. To top 8, Kevin seriously had to play with only one loss and a draw. He probably faced a multitude of different decks. Just look at the top 16 too.

Kevin Gerhart ran affinity...

You should have corrected me. I meant Brian, the Kiki-pod player.
