 {Batterskull}
How does this card work??

X9xCRUSHERx4X

I'm not sure what you mean, are you confused about the living weapon mechanic?

abstractApathist

702.91a: Living weapon is a triggered ability. "Living weapon" means "When this Equipment enters the battlefield, put a 0/0 black Germ creature token onto the battlefield, then attach this Equipment to it."

ibtrickey

Why is there a bottom equip cost?

ibtrickey

I know living weapon, but the card is confusing. And I got negged for asking about how this works??

Giggle the Draco Genius

{batterskull} works like any of piece of equipment. Living weapon just states that is comes in already equipped to a 0/0 that it creates

ibtrickey

So does it cost 10 mana? Or can it be attached to any other creature? Can someone honestly explain the card

abstractApathist

When it enters, it automatically attaches to the token without you paying its equip cost. You can attach it to another creature you control for {5}, just like a normal equipment.

When a living weapon enters the battlefield, it creates a 0/0 germ token, then equips itself to the germ token for free. When the germ token dies, say as a result of {wrath of god}, you can equip the batterskull to something else by paying the equip cost of {5}.

ibtrickey

Would a board whipe that kills creatures destroy this card?

Gorzo

No. The card is simply an artifact - equipment, just like any other equipment.

The board wipe would kill the germ token, though.

ibtrickey

So wait, does that mean if a creauture has a artifact enchantment attached to it and creatures get board whiped the artifact stays? Or if the creature dies from combat?

Kaleo42

If you shoot someone holding a sword their sword is still there. If you poison a town the sword is still there. The sword is not a creature it is an artifact. It lives by the rules of artifacts not creatures. This is how all equipments work. In the case of living weapons a dorky creature is created already holding the weapon (free equip to that dorky 0/0). Now in order for any other creature to pick up or take that weapon away from a creature holding it the equip cost must be paid.

Artifact stays. It provides a host to attach to, can move hosts, and will survive if the host dies. It's pretty awesome, hence the price lol

I always enjoy your explanations :)
