So using {gridlock} I learned I was able to abuse heroic triggers by tapping a tapped creature multiple times just to get the effect multiple times.

I was wondering if the opposite would work, I know you can untap untapped creatures, but does the wording of inspired let me receive that ability again and again like with things like {hidden strings} on {pain seer}

And do they have to be tapped to get the ability or just the target of untap abilities ?

Thats why whenever you steal a creature you gotta try to destroy it (sac it)

So when you steal a creature with inspire do you get the inspried ability?

I dunno I guess it depends on if the ruling but it doesn't say the owner or anything so id guess whoever has control of it at the time it untaps and triggers.

But it's good news that you can untap untapped creatures with inspired and get the ability.

Now people can think of other things than oh but how do I tap my guys without attacking herp derp

I had a judge say that {portent of betrayal} triggers an inspired creature even if it was just summoned and still has summoning sickness

is this true? so even if a creature is untapped, and you target it with an untap spell, it will trigger inspired? seems op.

but what if it was just summoned and wasnt tapped like the example above?

I think that the creature has to be tapped first to trigger inspire..if it's already untapped, your not untapping it.

This is all I've found so far

A creature's inspired ability triggers every time the creature becomes untapped. That's normally at the start of your turn, but an inspired ability triggers no matter how or when the creature untaps. The simplest way to get these creatures tapped is to attack with them, but this set also contains many cards that let you tap your creatures in other ways.

If multiple inspired abilities you control go on the stack at the same time, you get to decide in what order to put them on the stack. (The last one you add to the stack will resolve first, as usual.) Inspired abilities that trigger during the untap step are all put onto the stack as the upkeep step begins, at the same time as "at the beginning of your upkeep" triggers. You put your inspired triggers and upkeep triggers on the stack all at once, in any order you wish.

Based on that wording alone I say it has to be tapped first in order for it to work. Untapping it when it's already untapped just keeps it the same, in order for it to BECOME untapped it has to be in a state other than untapped and then be untapped, the only other state it can be  in in this situation is tapped. So I'd have to say no, untapping an already untapped creature with inspired doesn't trigger its ability. It has to change orientation in order to trigger.

Still I wonder why the judge ruled the inspired went off in the above scenario llama mentioned since it didn't become untapped
