But i also top out at 3 mana most games it seems and with the amount of removal i really would like him more as an enchantment than a creature

Try anax and cymede. I'm also running a R/W and that card is the bomb. Also maybe try fable hero?

Its actually ran pretty well so far i can beat or get reeeally close to beating most of the netdecks a vast majority of the time it seems

Apparently 2 life is my barrier because no matter what at 2 life a {whip of erebos} or some other crazy lifegain comes out
