I'm thinking about getting into mtgo but I have a couple of questions
What sets have been released in mtgo (and what cards are in them if they are things unique to mtgo)?
There are events and things I can play in for free, right?
If I collect all the cards in a non standard set, can I redeem that set?
How long does the average person take to learn the interface of mtgo?
What keeps someone for just trading for entire sets over and over again, redeeming the set, selling the paper set and repeating?  That seems like it damage the paper card economy and make that person ridiculous amounts of money.
And when is vintage masters getting released?

Interface is really easy to learn. Pretty much all sets have been release. Except for vintage sets.  You must have 1 each of a set(including lands ) to redeem set. The catch is that most standard redemptions cost 25$ to process plus shipping and handling. The older sets only cost 5$ to redeem such as innistrad. Costs 10$ to sign up. And from what I can recall there are no free tourneys. Maybe a couple for new players but that's it. Once you make a constructed deck you can play against 1 opponent for 2 tix but you only win 1 pack. Drafts cost anywhere from 9-14 tix on average depending how cheap bots are selling packs for. But if you are really good you can go semi- infinite playing 8-4 drafts. That's what all the pros do. I stick to 4-3-2-2 since I consider myself intermediate. I suggest holdin  off on the beta version though until they force the switch. Old interface is easy to use/ understand.

I just joined today. My name is the same as it is here. Buddy request me and maybe we can learn together. I spent $100 on a standard deck and have been having fun all day playing free games.

No. You can play for free, you have to buy cards though.

Bookmeister

You do not have to pay to play casual games. I use paypal, they accept that.

Pi

Be careful the wizards can hear you everywhere. The more rebellious we get the less black lotus they release back into the market.

Bummer man😢

• use paypal
• take 10 minutes to read my guide to MTGO.
• there are nothing but free games going on always. Pick your format and play for days without spending.
• You have to buy the cards, but they're much cheaper then paper. Once you figure out how to use bots it's simple.
• New accounts start with a "Planeswalker" Pack. It's for a special format that mirrors "Duels of the Planeswalkers". You can build a pretty powerful deck, with hundreds of free cards, and just play that way until you amass a collection for the format you want.
• the MTGO store sells magic product for MSRP, so you can buy the Commander pre-cons for what they cost in paper, $29.99.
• I run a iMtG Clan on MTGO. Join up to get free cards and drunken banter from me.

But I can't find my 650 starter cards?  Where are they?  I'm downloading the old version right now,

After you've opened the Planeswalker pack, go to the Deck Editor and select "Special Sets -- Planeswalker" from the drop-down menu. That information is in the guide I wrote.

And of course the non beta one can't open...  :(

To get started on Magic Online click the "Collection" tab at the bottom of the screen and find the Magic Online New Account Starter Kit. Right-click on it and choose 'Open one of these'. This will add the individual items to your Collection.

Ertai

I would love to join the clan.

Which client are you using? If it's old one just go to collection select ALL at the top drop down if not selected already. Then go to the 3 dot tab folder. Right click your starter pack and open it. That should do it.
