That's what I always did

True... But it is not a one shot kill with {Draco}.  Besides, it is a lot of fun to watch their expression...

Edit: adding in a {doubling season} to the combo will make {Draco} and other high cost critters viable alternatives

They better die when you hit them for 99 with the effect from the sacrifice

The sac target is the Pet, which doesn't have 99 power. It gets +1/+1 counters from the CMC of the discarded card.

Quite... I think 999,978 points of damage overkill (give or take a few for varied life totals) makes quite an impression... About a mile deep, I would say...
