If I put lure on an unblockable creature, what happens?

BlackJester

Can't always trumps can. If one effect says "all creatures block if able" and another says "creatures can't block" they won't be able to block.
Basically, the {Lure} will do nothing.

That poor jerk who invested in all those {Relentless Rats} would be so sad.

I know someone with a deck like this and has invested quite a bit in trample cards, as well as a few planeswalkers... (he left angry) but what he failed to realize is i had lifes finally and a creature that dealt damage to target opponent when it and every other creature dies... Ida won anyway...

Hakuu

I have a real hard ass friend that refuses to believe that this is possible. Can you please refer me to a rule or ruling some where on wizards.com or in an official rule book that explains this happening.

My circumstance is I had a 2/4 elf bard (all creatures able to block this creature do so)
And various other elves in play. He had several large creatures (4/4, 6/6 and a few others). This is the same scenario correct? His argument was since any one of his creatures can kill my elf bard all he needed to do was block it with one of them and that would kill it and all his other creatures would be free to block the others. I said WTF. I showed him this post but "it isn't official enough" for him.

Your friend is a prick. Honestly.

Hakuu

Your telling me. We basically got in a yelling bout over blocking procedures. He drives me nuts.

I don't know what to tell your friend other than me, an official Rules Advisor is telling him to RTFC:
{Elvish Bard}
"All creatures able to block Elvish Bard do so."

Im not really sure where the confusion is.
Is it a creature? Yes.
Can it legally block the Elf (is it untapped?)?  Yes.
Then it has to block the Elf. Meaning ALL creatures block it. Not just enough to kill it. If that's what it meant, it would say so.

^That. I second the notion that your friend is a prick.
