Question if you guys can tell me. Is it computable with the wii? Is it a whole new counsel because it looks like the wi or is it just new controllers. Could I just buy the controllers and add it to my wii?  Thanks.

It's a whole new console. It's backwards compatible in the sense that you can copy all your stuff from a wii over to the wii u (this wipes it off the wii though). The wii u controllers are also not compatible I think

The wii u is an entirely new console. The games are backwards compatible but you won't be able to play them in HD. The wii controllers work with the wii u as long as there are the newer models with motion plus. If you've noticed, most retail stores have replaced all of the 1st gen controllers with the new one. If you do decide to buy one, make sure you buy a nunchuck and controller because the Wii U only comes with the launchpad.

Thanks was thinking of getting one for my nephews but think it may be too much because too many extras

Why not get the Wii Mini? It's small, kid friendly and pretty affordable, only $99. It's also red and black.  All and all it's a Wii on a smaller scale but would make a great gift for someone who doesn't any consoles to begin with.

They already have the wii. I thought maybe I could buy three of those controllers. But thanks for the ideas.

Another question. Does the tablet that comes with it have a battery in it or does it need to stay plugged in or do you have to buy a battery for it

Rass

And any other tips on the wii u you may find helpful.  Thanks.

The tablet has a built in battery, so you have to recharge it every so often but it comes with a stand to charge it on or you can just plug it in. If you have a wii already just keep in mind that it deletes all of its data if you transfer it to the wii I.
