Doom Blade a Yellow?

I have a stromkirk captain. My friend pulls a doom blade on it. I lost the game because of it, but I wondered what anyone else thought. Can you doom blade a creature with black in it's summons or is it not considered black and therefore doom blade is successful.

{Stormkirk Captain} can't be targeted by {Doom Blade}. It's black.

Edit:  "But Jester" they'll say "it's red. Doesn't that mean its not non-black?" "Fools!" I'd say. "How can something be black and non-black?!?" That's what I'd say alright.
