I don't see Ashiok in any of the espers decks at my lgs they consistently beat aggro and top 8. I agree with potticus 26-27 lands is ideal and AoT x4 is absolutely amazing.

I am not a fan of AoT, not sure why, but I did go 4-0 at a standard event with this exact list. So it's not doing bad, and Ashiok made the win 2 of those times. I fixed the mana problem by mana sifting/pile shuffling each game, was consistantly drawing what was needed for the match at hand.

I like {syncopate} for early game which is the only time it's advantageous IMO. As for {render silent} it made waves against a mono blue devotion deck locking out {master of waves}

This is probably more of a meta thing. I at my lgs this list would get destroyed by other esper lists. But if it's working at your store no reason to change it.

My LGS is mostly aggro, I've not played a mirror yet, played two RWU control decks that I had a hard time first game against and sided in azurios charms and sin collectors to keep them on their toes

That's a nice environment for control. We have control and aggro. That's pretty much it.

Ashiok isn't a pseudo drownyard. Drownyard was a card because it was a land the only way to hurt it was a pithing needle. Since most lists run 6 ways minimum to kill plainswalker she doesn't do a ton but mill slightly. As for Aggro. Id rather just use removal on their creatures.

I would rather have a way to get creatures on my side for blocking. If that mana negging Ashiok to steal a creature, which I have many times than so be it. With running 5 and 6 drop creatures it makes it tough early game to begat damage at all times.

Updated to current build, went 6-2 at FNM yesterday (3 hours ago)

Only loss came to a blue white control, I think I need  {Thoughtseize}  {Pithing Needle} and an  {Elixir of Immortality} in my side board against control mirrors.

The rest I shut down and actually ulted  {Elspeth, Sun's Champion} twice.

Uhm, I would say no elixir. I've already given my opinions on where I'd take this deck. Jace memory adept in the board is awful, I'm also not sure why azorius charm is in the side? That's easily the most reliable card in the deck and has so many functions.

Azorious charm a lot of times is the most lackluster card in the deck. It just doesn't so enough. I usually board mine out most matchups for more spot removal. That's what I did for most of my matcha and made day 2 of Grand Prix Albuquerque.

New list, went 3-1 tonight with this current set up. Lost to a pack rat deck who kept me on the ropes and swung for lethal both games by t5

Got lucky against a grixis control deck who miss played all 4  {Slaughter Games} not picking off either of my  {Blood Baron of Vizkopa}'s then yanked back to back  bbv's for the win.

Eh, I top 32'd SCG Dallas. If I hadn't had 2 draws from durdle control players it would have been top 8 :/ 7-1-2 is the worst way to go down. Azorius charm can time walk opponents, draw you cards, and be lifelink on aetherlings. It's always been an allstar for me.

I disagree with the comment of Memory Adept. While I understand that he's not in pro SB at the moment, I think it's exactly why people SHOULD run him. People aren't expecting him anymore. He did soooo much work in the control mirror matches. Plus, control only runs a few win cons in the current shell, and milling them? Gg.

I think he is solid. Sure, he could get d sphered. But what can't?

I give him a 4.5/5 in control mirror matches :) just my humble opinion
