Finally got around to reading The Walking Dead #116 and #117. Very excellent. Also read Joe Hill's short story Twittering from the Circus of the Dead, a zombie story told through Tweets. It's on Amazon for $0.99 if anyone is interested.
why would anyone tell a story through tweets?

Because it's inventive and unique. Ever heard of anyone else doing it?

I love The Walking Dead comics, they are much more brutal than the show, I'm excited to see how much more the show involves more story concepts from the comics. I've finished all of my cooking and baking for the day. I'm taking a break and reading Reading Lolita in Tehran. :)

I started Catching Fire a few days ago. I like this world, the plot, and the characters but I'm not the target audience and the love triangle feels kind of rehashed from other young adult novels.

We just saw the movie. It was fantastic. I tried to read The Hunger Games a few years ago and couldn't get into it. I may try to again after I finish Hyperion.

Wasn't that movie spot on? I was entertained by the first one but it wasn't as gripping as the book. This second film might have been better than the book...

... There are some things that I have heard very few people do that I wouldn't consider to be "inventive and unique". And I've never been a fan of digital social media used as a means of telling a story... Especially not one that limits you to 140 characters... I think an inventive and unique story written and published as a novel would have just made more sense. Maybe I just don't like twitter... Oh well...

The second film was so good. A lot of people I know complained about there not being enough time shown in the arena, but that's what the first film was for. I would've been mad if the second film was two and a half hours of them in the arena. I'm glad it didnt hover on that part of the story for too long.

Well yeah, if you don't like Twitter then you more than likely won't "get it." It makes total sense for Joe Hill to be the one to do this. He's a strong advocate of Twitter. Anyway, it was an enjoyable 30 minute read that I recommend. If you don't see the value in it then don't read it I guess? I don't know what else to say.

I like "young adult" novels too! I just finished the latest Percy Jackson book, "House of Hades". Man those books are awesome! I was hooked ever since Percy stumbled into Camp Half Blood after taking out that Minotaur.

I also like the Divergent series. The third one just came out and it's next on my reading list! Thr3e was amazing (much better than the movie...WAY more suspenseful). Prey was awesome too. I started the Inheritance books but stopped after Eldest. Eragon wasn't the best writing. I could tell it was inspired by the LOTR trilogy, and I liked the idea, but it just got kind of dull. However in his defense, he starting writing the first one when he was like 17. And also the books get better as you go. I have not read the final book but. I have heard it's the best one and worth the read.

I also enjoy Tolkein's work. The LOTR trilogy was great (if you can get through the chapter "The Council of Elrond" haha), but I gotta say, my favorite from him was The Hobbit. Such a great book full of adventure! I have heard that Tolkein's science fiction books are good, though I haven't read any myself. I also love love LOVE The Silmarilion. Though don't try reading it if you aren't a crazy Tolkein fan! The Children of Hurin is a great book. I think it was written by Christopher Tolkein, either that or JRR and edited by his son Christopher.

I'm also a big manga fan. I read the entire DBZ series, which was fun. I read the Dragon Ball series too, which is kind of like DBZ only less fighting and more crude jokes. Not as good but a must read for any DBZ fan! I read Bleach for a long time and enjoyed it, but it got so repetitive that I stopped. Ichigo gains powers. Ichigo loses powers. Rinse and repeat while enemies get stronger according to Ichigo's power level. Gets boring after a while.

you and I share some tastes, my friend. :) personally I felt the same way about the Inheritance series but I finished them off and they really do get better and better as you go on. I always love that part where he punched through that guy's chest... Ah, good times...

I have read The Night Angel series by Brent Weeks through a trillion tines. Such a good fantasy series! It has everything I'm after: assassins, ninjas, magic, massive twists, multithread stories linking into one after a huge set up, fleshy characters, ah! Amazing!

I'm now chugging my way through The Clockwork Century series by Cherie Priest. An awesome does of zombie airship steampunk love.

And Terry Pratchett. Nuff said, really.

I've read Good Omens and 3/4 of The Colour of Magic. I want to finish out the Discworld series but there's soooo many books.

But sooooooooo worth it! Trust, do it! The more Discworld you read, the better it gets! Mainly due to his persistent cross title appearances! Like at times, you won't realize till half way through that the plot of this book was referred to in passing as a rumour or wives tale in another. Or the person they're describing sitting across the bar was the main from the last book. Or you're seeing an event described from another angle. Or Death just walks in a makes everything better!

Yeah I plan to read it all eventually. I actually may finish out Colour of Magic and start on The Light Fantastic after I finish Hyperion. I really enjoy the humor Pratchett puts into his stuff. It's a nice break from the super serious SFF I'm used to reading.

Thats exactly why I love him too. The way he manipulates sentence structure and grammar to emulate the humor or setting of the scenario; amazing! The description of that suit case in Colour of Magic and Light Fantastic is the best!
