Heros downfall ban??

Rumor while at GP ABQ was that there's a chance that {hero's downfall} will be banned in standard...thoughts?

Did they give a reason?  I don't think it is over powered,  how many spells target planes walkers?

It isn't even expensive, I mean compare it to {jace, the mind sculptor} or {stoneforge mystic} that it's power levels are too selective to be truly good

I don't really see it happening but people spread the rumor. There wasn't much of a source but there were multiple groups talking about it.

It takes a lot to ban cards, degenerate gameplay is one. Even then, the height of U/W Delver, nothing was banned. {Hero's Downfall} does have the perchance to butt hurt new players, it is by no means a ban worthy card.

I don't think either will be, but Boar is sorcery speed and Downfall isn't

Not a chance. It's only going to get weaker as new cards come out and it is not keeping people from playijg events until then so there is no point. Banning has to be done when people stop showing up to events like when caw blade ran rampant.

JtMS was a problem card in standard for a long long time before he was finally banned. I haven't heard many if the standard players complain about Hero's Downfall the way I complained about JtMS when I was playing standard during Zendikar block
