mono color commanders

I was playing Commander tonight with my friends, and I was getting heckled for having a mono colored commander. They told me I was essentially cheating and commanders are supposed to be multi colored. 😑

Yea if that's the case they suck and need to be more prepared for mono colored cause with the gods mono colored is gonna become more popular so they need to adapt.

You should probably get some new friends. Mono-colored commanders are nothing to scoff at. Omnath is a very powerful general. Krenko can do some nutty stuff when he goes off. Azusa is also a good general. Also, building one color is no easier than building two or three. The card pool, when looking at cards relevant to your strategy, is pretty much the same size.

tl;dr: your friends are idiots and assholes for making fun of you and your commander choices.

Thanks for the support, i had a strong feeling there was nothing wrong with mono colored commanders. Mine was  {Mikaeus, the Unhallowed} my deck title: Army of Darkness. 👍

I love my mono blue EDH deck. Unfortunately, my friends don't. Just because counter spells are {U}'s way of removing things doesn't make it über un-fun... Just play around it. Heck, proxy a {Cavern of Souls}, I don't care. It's not like I'm trying to counter everything. =\

I ran a mono-White Avacyn deck which ran Soldiers, Knights and Angelic support. No one dared tell me it was a bad choice, cause I beat face with it all the time.

Yeah, there's absolutely nothing wrong with a mono colored commander deck. You gain consistency and lose flexibility. It's the same trade-off that you get in any format with mono-vs-multi color decks.

If they hate your mono black deck that much, they could just play enchantments, or some of the other things that black is stuck not being able to a damn thing against. It's on them for not building with versatility in mind.

Mono color commanders are just as hard to build as multi I have a {Sherei,shizos storekeeper} (honestly I feel like that's not even close spelling) edh and its super interactive but building it against naya good stuff was NOT easy.
