Will Devotion last after rotation?

With this new devotion mechanic I'm wonderig if it will last beyond rotation. What is everyone's thoughts? Are the big Devotion cards an investment or do you guys/gals see devotion falling off after Theros block rotates out?

It's hard to say! I think asking as cards continue to have multiple symbol casting cost, I think we'll see Devotion. Probably not as fierce as it is now, but I think the green devotions at least will be around in Modern and maybe EDH at least on one card slot here and there.

I'm excited to see where they will take devotion in the next two sets. Totally agree with green. The current big boys like  {Master of Waves} I don't think will last though. When you think of nasty creature lay downs {U} is not the color that comes to mind.... Know what i mean?

Merfolk?

Merfolk yes, definitely.  just saying typical FNM games {U} doesn't equal creatures. That's why I don't think devotion will last in certain colors. And after Theros rotates out some colors it will stick and others won't. I just have a feeling that the "accepted" aggro decks will be the only to survive devotion.

Phyrexian obliterator rising fast shows this mechanic is very useful is formats other than standard

My {Azami, Lady of Scrolls} EDH deck uses {Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx} and {Master of Waves}. Nykthos provides insane amount of mana as you amount a poard state and provides an extra way to go infinite with {Palinchron} if you get to that point. Master is just an insanely good defensive creature that benefits hugely from the fact that I play Clones (bigger elementals). The fact that he's a wizard is just a bonus.

In short, EDH loves jank like devotion.

I think that for modern, all mono colored decks with run Nykthos except for maybe super heavy Aggro (as they want early color fixing). I'm no pro at extended, but {Master of Waves} will see legacy merfolk play I believe. Maybe even in some non-full tribal Faeries (BIG maybe there, they probably have better stuff).

I think EDH is where it will stay. For the most part, every god sharing identity with a commander will see play. I don't see why I wouldn't run all of them, unless there was something a lot better. But it's 99 cards. Room can be made :)

As for mono green, I don't think so. There's just better stuff I think.

I do think most mono black decks will run {Gray Merchent of Asphodel} though.

It really just depends. Hard to say for sure about most :) I think it will really come down to the rest of the set :)

(Also, in additon to my other post, Nykthos + {Minamo, School at Water's Edge} = a ton of mana.)
As far as EDH goes, you can never predict what people will want to run simply because THAT very concept in itself is the very core of EDH. I think green EDH decks will run Nykthos, too. With {Khalni Hydra}, {Primalcrux}, and {Omnath, Locus of Mana}? Yeah, let's not think about {Doubling Cube}.
