Has anyone ever used  {Vampire Hexmage} +  {Dark Depths}. If so how did it work out for you? Thinking of building around it.

Legacy, possibly EDH with some tutors to pull it off.

Never have run it myself so I cannot say but if your flirting with that land, many people like using {thespian stage} with it for the quick turn and sac

Wouldn't the legendary rule hit and remove it before you could sac it if you copied it?

Never mind, keep forgetting the new legendary rule where you can keep one and sac the other instead of them both going to the grave yard.

Of course you could run the {dark depths} in an old school combo elf speed deck, having 2-3 {parallel lives} in play and an  {Altar Of Dementia} out...
That is if it can be worked like that..

Hmm, can I put the token on stack the sac it to the altar instead of the legendary rule?

They are sacrificed as a state-based action, if I recall correctly. If you put the Parallel Lives triggers on the stack, then respond to each individual token entering the battlefield by sacrificing it, it will work.

As a backup I would use a {hex parasite}. I run this combo in 2EDH decks and works wonderfully

I have a friend that uses the Thespian stage combo in his Progenitus Lands deck in EDH.

They already did! Hahah. {Vampire Hexmage} has been called that since she debuted.

You can't sac a creature on the BF, and the legendary rule is a state based action. Sacing a creature requires the stack, so a player must have priority to sac. Therefor, you can't sac a creature before the legendary rule triggers.

One note on my comment: I'm aware that Sacing is either a cost or a consequence of a spell or ability that gets put on the stack, but I stand by my timing limitations.
