Really? I always thought token cards that were copies had mana costs. My friend runs token devotion

Token copies of creature cards do have mana costs. The rule was already quoted here.

This is why people run {Pack Rat} in mono-black devotion. Each copy of Pack Rat adds one to your devotion to black.

Edit: Actually, the rule Mlerner posted wasn't quite the right one. This is it:

706.2. When copying an object, the copy acquires the copiable values of the original object's characteristics [...] The "copiable values" are the values derived from the text printed on the object (that text being name, mana cost, color indicator, card type, subtype, supertype, rules text, power, toughness, and/or loyalty), as modified by other copy effects, by "as . . . enters the battlefield" and "as . . . is turned face up" abilities that set characteristics, and by abilities that caused the object to be face down.

Note that "mana cost" is listed as a copiable value.

No. Most tokens have a CMC of 0, like ones made by {Hive Stirrings} or {Assemble the Legion} or {Elspeth, Sun's Champion}. However some tokens actually do have a CMC, so they can survive a ratchet bomb crack for 0.

These are token copies, we recently clarified that token copies do have the mana cost of the origional.

9/22/2011   The token copies exactly what was printed on the original creature and nothing else (unless that creature is copying something else or is a token; see below). It doesn't copy whether that creature is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it or Auras and Equipment attached to it, or any non-copy effects that have changed its power, toughness, types, color, or so on.

I stand corrected. Tokens that are copies have the same cmc of the permanent they are copying. So, yes, giant adephages token copy of itself DOES count towards devotion.

Because Green isn't happy until you're hard-casting {Worldspine Wurm}, casting {Colossus of Akros}, AND making it monstrous all on the same turn.
