Ever played anything else besides EDH?

LadyGrixis

I play Standard, EDH, Draft and Sealed. I've attempted Legacy & Modern, but to make a truly competitive deck from either of those formats is going to cost me a kidney, half a lung, and probably a couple of appendages.

Maybe if you net deck. I'm smashing my manager (which is one of the best players I know) with my legacy dredge deck I just threw together. The most expensive card in it is {Lion's Eye Diamond} which isn't that expensive when you think about the other cards used in legacy.

My point is, you can make a competitive deck without going on the internet and looking up "the best decks" and trying to copy them. Of course those will be expensive. Just keep your head up, get some deck building help of you need it, and piece together a deck.

O_o I never said I was struggling or that I wanted to make a Legacy or Modern. You just asked. And normally this Rakdos runs fine, I just had some good competition. Sounds like you're reprimanding me or something.

Sidenote: My interest in Legacy is next to nothing. So I'll stick with what I like.

Just simply correcting you, kindly. :D

Not exactly sure why you're correcting me, but I won't get into a back-and-forth.

Gorzo

I must say, this thread title had me concerned coming in as a mod.

I can't say if I'm relieved or disappointed by the subject matter.

Seriously though, sorry you got your bootie kicked :( I will do my best to avenge your spirit in the name of almighty Rakdos with my deck tomorrow at FNM. But hey, at least you got to play some EDH after, which is the most fun of all!

LadyGrixis

Lol, this is the wrong section for that ;) but if you like, I'll post up a picture of my Halloween costume in the Misc. Threads!

Thank you Gorzo! I can always count on you!

This is a very good idea.

LadyGrixis

I would put it in the Fun Stuff section I guess. I still haven't finished Chandra. I went as a leathered-out Unicorn. It ended up looking like a combination between Sandy from the movie "Grease" and a pony!

LadyGrixis

I'm putting it up. In like 20 seconds....or more.

Sorry Grix, I let you down :( went 2/2, made a stupid mistake that cost me the entire night, and made a good kid really upset with a down-paired dreamcrush which made me feel like an absolutely horrible person.

Round 1/4, went against mono black devotion. Crushed him game one. Game 2 made a terrible mistake (could have won by sacrificing a new {Rakdos Cackler} to tap his {Desecration Demon} and hit him for lethal damage with {Rakdos, Lord of Riots}. For some stupid reason, I didn't see it, and he promptly whipped his way back up to a win. Horrible misplay. Game 3, {Whip of Erebos} + {Pack Rats} = Sad Gorzo.

Round 2, it's mono BLUE devotion this time. Ugh. This is the worst possible matchup for me. {Tidebinder Mage} taps any of my creatures to slow me down, {Master of Waves} is protected from half of my removal, and Thassa is indestructible. Again, sad Gorzo.

Round 3, bye. Pity win!

Round 4, I get paired up against one of the mane 2/1 players, a youngling (compared my very-late-20's old self) of 13-ish. He's very hopeful, and of course my deck decides that now, when it doesn't matter to me but does matter to my opponent, is the time to perfect-curve. I honestly wanted to lose, but I also wanted to play, and I don't believe in throwing matches. Of course I win, and he's really crushed. I've never felt so bad playing magic. I even offered to drop and give him the win, but he declined - he wanted to win on his own merits (deserves some serious respect, this one). But he was down on himself because he finally had a shot at 2nd, even possibly 1st, which he keeps coming close to but getting robbed of. I feel so guilty right now. I really wish I'd lost that match.

I feel like a terrible person :(

Man don't be down, we both know he wants to take his first win, not be handed it. When he gets his it will be so much sweeter, you did him a favor by not giving it to him.

My night wasn't that great either as far as FNM goes... Lost to Boros Devotion (Red devotion) and Johnny Hydras (Corpsejack, Kalonian Hydra, Mistcutter, gyre sage, etc. Everything gets huge fast. His other kills were on like turn 4-5. So much trample...)

Although I won 3 games (1 was EDH after FNM, we played 2 EDH games. =3)
I won against a guy that was playing a weird version of Esper control unsleeved... Thoughtseize, shocks, scry lands, etc. Wanted to smack him, but I didn't because I'm nice. =<
Also won against a weird fringe deck I can't even remember. He gave me the win but I wanted to play the round anyway. I think I lost because my friend wasn't there today. Every time he's there I get like 4-0 or 3-1.
