So I'm looking for some good series I could actually get into and enjoy I enjoy fantasy genres and sci fi things and for comics darker story lines would be great. Thanks for the suggestions

Sci-fi and fantasy have never (probably) seen a greater sythesis than in the Artemis Fowl series.

Anything on Vertigo. Vertigo is an imprint of DC and generally has darker stuff. Saga of the Swamp Thing and the Watchmen were my introduction into comics. The Sandman soon followed. That's pretty dark and has fantasy and scifi elements. I also really enjoy Locke and Key and I've been reading the Sin City books recently.

As for books, I started the Gentleman Bastard series by Scott Lynch. I'm almost done with the first book. It's considered fantasy. Also anything by Joe Hill. His stuff has dark fantasy and scifi elements to it.

While I loved that series, too, I believe the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series to be the best (in my humble opinion). I have all the books and have been seriously considering rereading them (something I never do, because I get bored with books when I try to do that).

I just looked it up and the author's name is Michael Scott. Now I'm gonna watch The Office lol

Eragon is great, so is divergent. It might be a bit too much romance for some people but the mortal instruments series is great through book 3

I've just started reading an espionage Dark Horse comic series called Mind MGMT by Matt Kindt.  It's really great.  I also just heard that Ridley Scott picked it up to make a movie out of it.

The story is about Meru, a true crime writer who searches for the truth behind a mysterious airline flight and discovers a secret government agency of super spies, espionage, and psychic abilities. Henry Lyme, the former top agent, has gone rogue and is working to dismantle the organization.

Don't read divergent, he last book will make you want to kill someone. It just wrecks all the fun.

I enjoyed the game of thrones book series, and just about anything I've read from Piers Anthony. I haven't read comics in years, but was always partial to the x men.

I heard the walking dead comics were badass.

Yea I do agree with mlerner though, the last book was terrible

The Wheel of Time series is epic. The Mistborn series is very well written as well. I'd say the first seven books of The Sword of Truth are great. After that he just kills it.
