Does anyone else here play pauper commander? If no, would anyone be willing to try it out?

Moneekahh

Imthelolrus and I play! As does my brother!

(Sorry, didn't realizing I was posting in the wrong "Discussion" forum... xD)
Awesome, what commanders do you guys use? And do you do commons only, or that weird 10 uncommons rule that's floating around?

If play only with this rule set
5 rares (12 $) for all
10 uncommons (6$) for all
1 mythic (5-10) bucks
Only basic lands
You can split up cost to gain more than 10 uncommons or rares but you cannot go over 15$ total then
You cannot have more than 26 non common cards
Sound fair?

Except that's not Pauper anymore, that's just a set of deck building restrictions. =\ I play 99 commons and 1 uncommon commander. The only exceptions to this are when someone wants to use maybe a common as their commander or maybe a janky, not-too-powerful rare, then that's ok, but the whole thing with restrictions like that is it over complicates things, and there's also no real way to enforce them because there are no "deck checks".

Edit: Ex: My current pauper commander is {Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage}, and the most powerful combo in my deck is {Midnight Guard} + {Presence of Gond}, but how often do you actually draw that? When you do, it's fun, and you normally win, but it's not the focus of the deck. Adding uncommons+ begins to include tutors, etc that make decks much more combo-y instead of just fun common on common action (lol). I view it as a break from all the broken things you can do in normal EDH.

Unfortunately, that loses the meaning pauper. In the case of EDH, the only exception to rarity is the commander which is typically uncommon.

The deck you described would have to be labeled a standard EDH deck.

Don't get me wrong, it does sound pretty fun though!!

Vileo

Exactly! If anyone has a list put together, I'd be happy to have a wall game. I need to test my deck anyway.

Moneekahh

My commander is {Bloodbraid Elf} (I heard she is unofficially banned but I don't really care lol), Noah's commander is {Bronzebeak Moa}, and my brother's is {Mistmeadow Witch}.

Moneekahh

The ten uncommons thing is just peasant EDH with restrictions. I think pauper is more fun than peasant because it levels out the decks better. Nothing is *too* OP.

Vileo

I agree about pauper being more fun than peasant. We should definitely get some wall games going for pauper EDH, though.

Charbelchers rage

Is it ok if I {mistblade shinobi} as my commander I only really need stuff that is unblock able lol

ChrisRodriguez

I play...I use {Watchwolf} as my commander.

Charbelchers rage

Actually I'd prefer {saka student}.... I need more ninjas that's why I'm picking this
