I'm still in high school, but I have a question for you college goers. Did you ever think of going out of country for college? Because I'm considering it, any help and suggestion and tips

Steerpike

I spent the entire spring semester of this year for class in Italy and it was the single most gratifying period of my life.

How long were you considering being away? Because I have little to say about being gone for years on end, other than how I started to feel the pangs of homesickness after about a month and a half.

Spending all that time would no doubt be just as, and very probably more, life changing than what I did.

How stable are you away from home?
An entire degree is a long time. Long enough for you to probably wind up being capable of establishing the rest of your life wherever you go. So you need to be willing to suspend everything your place of residence has given to you.

How wealthy is whoever is paying for it?
I ask simply because when there are breaks in study, you may find yourself wanting to travel even more (especially if you're in Europe) or visiting home every now and again. Plane tickets, especially trans-oceanic ones, are not cheap.

And of course, where are you going??
Engaging non-English speaking cultures as opposed to ones where the language barrier is not a problem for you makes a big difference. Learning another language out of necessity is difficult but fun and extremely satisfying. Either way is not a deal breaker, but I imagine that will have a lot of bearing on your willingness to go.
