An {Elite Arcanist} with {Illusionist's Bracers}

Archanist says te spells he copies are "cast." And the bracers say they copy the ability, not the spell. So would the activation of archanist's ability with the bracers on indeed trigger {Guttersnipe} twice?

Cipher89

No because  {Guttersnipe} says that when it is cast not that the ability is copied

Yes and no. The arcanist with bracers equipped activates his ability. The bracers copies that ability. There are now two activated abilities on the stack that say "cast without paying mana costs", which satisfies the trigger for {Guttersnipe} twice. It therefore triggers twice and deals 4 damage.

But the ability is copied not cast witch is wut  {Guttersnipe} says is there a ruling of sorts

The ability to cast the spell without paying its mana cost is copied, yes. The spell is then cast without paying its mana cost i.e put on the stack as a spell. It thus triggers Guttersnipe. I think my earlier post was slightly off about this.

I would say yes it triggers him twice because yes you're copying an ability but the ability you're copying is "casting the exiled spell without paying its mana cost" you're not copying the spell, you're copying the ability to cast that spell
