Lets say I proxy a {Marsh Flat} off that one website Agrus Kos mentioned. If it has all the same dimensions, text, and everything it needs to have, is it legal in modern? (The marsh flats.) It can't be cheating, can it? I mean, it's a card, plain and simple, in a sleeve and everything.

Why not? Its a card... And it's all the same everything... It makes perfect sense to me, and I meant casual play more than competitive play.

You can not earn points or be entered into a tournament with a proxy. If you do not have the wizards approved version of the card then you can use any substitute. Wizards will not allow you to use their system if the materials used to participate did not result in income for wizards. It's good business practice plain and simple. If you don't want tournaments or dci points then do whatever.

What if counterfeit money had all the same dimensions, numbers, markings.... Is that money legal? Same idea :) basically it's a counterfeit card.

When you're playing a nice friendly game of Monopoly, it is the only thing that matters. It's useless if you want to play some other game like Life though.

Couples rules with proxies
A) you must be able to produce the real card on demand
B) the proxy MUST be approved by the head judge of the event
C) when face down they must be 100% indestigushable from the rest of the deck as well as any other place for instance while shuffling

The only place I have heard a proxy being allowed is in a legacy tournament since some of those cards can be quite pricey. Although I might be thinking of a vintage tourney

Also people don't play monopoly with real money?

Actually, there was a deleted scene in the movie Rat Race where the casino owners WERE playing monopoly with real money.

Great movie to watch, hilariously funny.
