I still run GW Hexproof ... Lol it's alright and you gotta time it right but the Lion if played well can usually get monstrous in time

SoshiGanrou

Dang. I read too quickly as read. Never mind then...

{Witchstalker} may be pretty popular in those hexproof decks.

Also make sure you can find an answer for the Jedi knight ( {Fiendslayer Paladin} )
Something like {Devour Flesh} would work, as long as they don't have some random token they can sac.

Oh and another thing,  {Cryptborn Horror} could be a cheap dude that drops out bigger than expected.

Lastly, how do you plan to keep cards in your hands? It seems with a solid early set up you could burn thru your hand worth of cards pretty quickly. Possibly consider a way to replenish it?

Pirate John

Bring in 1-2 {underworld Cerberus} from your side to deal with UW control or creature light decks

Antirayman

I think you don't have enough cheap creatures, but to many removal. If you play against control your removal won't deal with {Sphinx's Revelation}.  That's why I suggest {Tormented Hero} or {Firedrinker Satyr}.
If you're able to cast  {Purphoros, God of the Forge}, I don't think that he will do a lot cause you have just a little creatures to trigger his ability or animate him. But im a great fan of his hammer( {Hammer of Purphoros})!!! With his hammer you should be able to crush through your opponents defenses!

Gorzo

Thank you all for the suggestions!

I really do need a reliable way to deal with {Fiendslayer Paladin}. I do have {Slaughter Games} and {Lifebane Zombie} in the sideboard already, but a paladin could potentially be dropped before I can cast them. Is it worth messing up the versatility of my sideboard even more to deal with a single possible card?

I'm not too worried about Sphinx's rev. I already have Slaughter Games, and as soon as I see control, I bring in {Sire of Insanity}. In my play testing, this deck is extremely good at performing while hellbent, and I don't mind dumping my hand and going top-deck.

{crypt born horror} makes a horrid sideboard card. Sure it's nice when you can drop a 7/7 for 3 mana, but what if your opponent boardwipes and you have nothing but 2-3 horrors in hand?

Might as well pack in less conditional creatures

Nepentheceae

Sure of insanity + blood scrivener ?

Necrobump! I've updated the deck for Game Day and Born of the Gods. I haven't done much testing with {Gild} yet but I feel it fits in as a solid 2-of in the deck.

I would really love to add 2 copies of {Mogis, God of Slaughter} to the deck. Badly. But I simply have not been able to get my hands on any copies of the card. I would likely take out a magma jet and a Mizzium mortar to fit the 2 copies of Mogis in.

I'm still on the fence right now about swapping in 4 {Temple of Malice}. This deck is so high-speed and quick-paced, I feel like the risk of losing that half-step for coming in tapped isn't worth the mana fixing. In past experience, I shock myself with {Blood Crypt} in this deck for speed a good 75% of the time, and it's always worth it. Not having that option is really putting me off the scry lands for this dive-bomb style deck.

Skyshadow731

I recomend 2 temples because being able to look at your next card will help you due to the fact off if you go to top deck . Plus it fixes mana.

1. Where's {Rakdos Return}
2. I actually have 2 Mogis' if you wanna trade PM me 😋

Gorzo

1) Not in the deck, that's where :P lol a fair enough question, but I opted not to include it here. I've been playing it for some time now and it really doesn't do anything for me. Sure, I could do 3 damage for 5 mana. Or I could do it for 2 mana with {Lightning Strike}, AND have the option to blast a blocker with it! As for the discard? Meh, I say! Keep your hand, anything you play gets hit by my hand full of removal, and I can top-deck removal and threats for days! Really, this deck is so short-sighted it's scary. It has zero regard for the future. True Rakdos.

2) I would be, but game day is in 5 days, and I'd need the cards by then...no way if get them fast enough in snail mail :( if I can't trade for them locally on weds or the weekend though I'll PM you, 'cause ill still want them but won't be in such a rush to gobble them up elsewhere before a deadline

Gorzo

Just a fun brag side-note, I want to share that since I've made this deck (Theros release), I've only lost to Esper Control with it one time. The matchup is great. I either go too fast for them to control, or we go into the most hilarious pseudo-mirror match ever. Neither of us can play creatures (or planeswalkers) and eventually Esper decks out because they drew cards with {Sphinx's Revelation}. It's really some of the most bizarre magic I've ever played, and half of my matches against esper control end this way. It's really pretty funny to see happen.

I've just been thinking about the new cards and your thoughts on a few of them..

{Flame-Wreathed Phoenix} (with exava it gains haste anyway)
{Pharagax Giant} (5 damage or a 5/5 haste with exava)
{Searing Blood} (an extra bit of punch while taking down a blocker)

Also have/would you consider using {Seismic Stomp} or {Madcap Skills} to help you get by those fiendslayers or boros reconers etc for the final points of damage?

Hmm... Some good thoughts here.

The Pheonix I do like, but what would I take out to put it in? Maybe take out the Gilds for them, I'm not all that impressed with Gild after my sample draws... I might have to experiment with that.

I'm not a fan of the giant. 5 mana cost is asking a lot of this deck, which is designed to run on 3 and end on 4. And while 5 damage is nice, a vanilla 3/3 or 5/5 (probably won't have haste - Exava tends to get blasted by removal pretty quick lol) won't make enough impact to take any cards out of the deck for it, you know?

I forgot about {Searing Blood}. That's a really tough choice. {Magma Jet}'s scry helps me out so much though, even if I end up just jetting the player for 2. This one's a thinker..

The deck originally had Madcap Skills when I first started building it. I quickly cut it when I saw that my opponents rarely had surviving blockers through the masses of removal, and that my losses were due to a lack of my own creatures rather than an abundance of theirs. I started mainboarding {Lifebane Zombie}s then instead, which helped immensely. now i have {Herald of Torment} in that slot, and the zombie in sideboard vs g/w.
It might be a smart sideboard option to have seismic stomp vs block-heavy decks though, in case I fail to draw enough removal. But I'm not sure what I can take out for it.
