So I've never known all that much about the Magic lore and story lines which kinda makes me sad considering I hear it's actually quite intriguing.
One thing that I really want to know about since playing DotPM13 is well.
1 how strong is Nicol Bolas?
Cuz in that game isn't he basically trying to become a god dragon and rule all the planes?
And also. How powerful is Ajani? If he can openly fight Nicol Bolas?

Nicol is the sun and the moon and the stars in the sky. He is the alpha, the nĂºmero uno, the Great Bambino.....in short, he's tops. Just.....no question, best Planeswalker ever.

Kaleo42

Nicol Bolas is one of the elder dragons. He has survived since a time where being a planeswalker meant manipulating all of reality. After the great mending he lost a great deal of his power and was confined to his dragon from as the spark lost the shapeshifting ability that it used to grant. He still retains a portion of his powers and his dragon form allows him to hold a great deal of power beyond that of a normal new age planeswalker, combine this with his superior intellect and he is one of the greatest beings in the multiverse.

Ajani has one of the greatest understanding of the spark and his own potential. He might not be the most powerful walker, but his experience and deepseeded hatred for Bolas (who was behind the murder of his brother) has lead Ajani to learn the necessary spells to both pacify and banish Bolas. In a simple one on one conflict Bolas would likely win, but Ajani is well aware of this and surrounds himself with powerful allies and is ever prepared to battle.

Thats what I know on the subject.

So like the humanoid planeswalkers
Lilianna
Jace
Gideon
Elspeth
Garruk
Domri
Venser

And the slightly more than human ones
Sorin
Tibalt
Vraska
Koth

(I know I probably mixed these up or missed a few)

Basically don't even compare to Bolas, Ajani, or Karn?
(I say Karn because didn't he create Mirrodin with his spark or something? I'm so uneducated in Magic lore ;~;)

Rasser

They say that the Talon Gates on Dominaria are the pincers of a giant leviathan that Bolas fought and killed.

Yeah after I posted this I decided to read up on Nicol Bolas and I want to know what this leviathan was! :D

You forgot Tezzeret (who is just sneaky and not to much of a solo player) and Tamiyo, which isn't too backgrounded.

Elspeth is just as powerful as Ajani, yet her potential is wasted due to lack of belief in her self and a tormented past (a survivor of the Phyrexian enslavement, or so the Scars of Mirrodin book alluded to).

Liliana is pretty powerful (since the veil) yet is too greedy and self obsessed to go nuts with it.

Destore117

So Elspeth is maybe going to step up and be the hero of the Theros block?

Pretty sure that's what they're setting as there's so many slogans about this set about needing a hero. Helios even says it in the trailer.

You forgot the most important planeswalker of all. Nissa!!

Spikepit

Yeah, the novel that went with the block. Loved it, if Venser was 'meh' before reading it, he won't be after.

Teferi was once a planeswalker. He gave up his spark though, to help repair Dominiria

His experiments to summon creatures easier are part of the cause of the time rifts. But don't blame him

It's this guy {teferi, Mage of zhalfir}

Name of book?
Scars of Mirrodin: The Quest for Karn. I got great insight into the characters of Tezzie, Venser and understand Elspeth's sadness and over all character a hell of a lot more after reading it years ago.
