Blood baron clarification please...

I know that  {Blood Baron of Vizkopa} has protection from black and white... Which I found out crippled me at FNM last week... So my question is, will either a  {Devour Flesh}, or maybe a {Celestial flare} be an effective way to kill it if it's the only creature on the opponents board? It targets the player and forces him to sacrifice, but still not sure if blood baron is protected by that...

Protection from a color just protects from damage and being the target of said colored spell, which is why my favorite removal is sacrifice :3
