I was in Iraq in 2005 near Baghdad.  There was this small community close to the base that we drove through everyday of our patrols.  We would stop at the end of a few day mission and give these people all the food and water that we did not eat.  Our families would send gifts like clothes, shoes, and toys for us to hand out to the kids as well.  Our attempt to get in their good graces paid off one day when a boy no older than 11 ran out in the middle of the road and flagged us down to stop.  We stopped, pulled security, and my interpreter and I approached the boy to see what was up.  He told us that some Ali Baba, bad guys, planted a bomb along the road just ahead.  We called in EOD and they removed a roadside bomb big enough to wipe a up-armor humvee off the face of the earth.  The morale to this truthful story is to treat people with respect and the favor will be returned.

So im a jeweler and going to college atm to learn more about the trade but I think my favorite war story besides accidental tattooing is the time I was working late at night on a project and I was soldering a sheet of metal to a piece of wire and I was using a pair of tweazers to hold my piece while I heated it up, after I finished the solder I grabbed the tweazers which were still at a very high probably 500-800 degree temp and I heard a sizzling but it took me a good three seconds to realize that it was from my fingers grabbing the tweazers. So I yelled and quickly pulled my fingers away only to of course also remove skin that was now adhered to my tweazers. As you could imagine this hurt quite a bit and there was some swearing involved, then my girlfriend asked me what was wrong. I replied I burned myself and she said what can I do?! I yelled "burn cream!!! " she said I don't have any what can I get? And I yelled BURN CREAM!!!!!!

But there was no burn cream...

Then a month later my fingers were fine lol guess its probably not as funny for you guys as it was for me...
