So...is it bad that I made my 2 year old daughter a deck? I went simple RDW with all straight forward cards. I understand I've still got a few years before she's able to actually play, but it made me wonder...when's it ok to get your kid into this game? Thoughts? Concerns?

BcBudds

I dunno, it's up to you. I seen a guy with his 3/4 year old kid both entered at FNM last week but he made him an expensive deck and then the kid kept it in his pocket. If say keep it casual cuz competitive decks are pricy and a kid won't take care of it. Maybe a little casual here and there but start on a video game.

The deck I made is all low cost cards or cards that I have a ridiculous amount of...like I don't need 20 {lightning bolt}s lol. Idk if I'd ever take her to Fnm until atleast 10

Vampyvyrus

I accidently neg karmad u tay. I +1 you tho. I agree with the Fnm part. I, quite honestly...wouldn't want to subject my daughter to that kind of poor hygiene at age 6. But I will be playing magic with her at that age, just at home. I made the RDW deck for her out of pure excitement of the fact that she will play with me one day :)

Yeah, got to agree with Taysby....weird .poo. happens at FNM, not the place for 6 year olds. Although depending on the maturity of the kid 10-12 should be fine. Good luck though, Magic needs new players and there is always a shortage of girls playing.

AMEN BROTHER!!!  I need a girlfriend!

Me too! But all of the girls at school make fun of us. Today I showed my friend a commander deck I was working on and a girl said "oh you guys are still doing that. I hoped you'd outgrow it." Sad part is she was a cute girl that I liked...:(

Vampyvyrus

Eh idc what others think. I'm me. I'm not changing. Plus, all the "hottest" most popular girls when I was in school hit on me now whenever they see me. I'm still the same guy, and most likely they are still the same girl. Shallow women are worthless to me.

I'd say that a child under the age of 8 is not mentally capable of understanding the basics of magic. My 2 year old has a "trade binder" with a bunch of lands and commons, he loves being like mom and dad! It's so cute! But is faaaaar from understanding anything about the game, and he is very bright.

He says we're "playing decks" anytime he sees a stack of MTG cards :) I'm excited for when he's old enough

You have to be careful when bringing a child to FNM.  Bring them if they, know how to pilot their deck on their own.  Because have you ever played a game with a child who was playing Merila Pod, and he had somebody like their father over their shoulder telling them what to do.  That makes me angry.  I'm sorry, but that is something they do at home.  It just bugs me, and I'm sorry if I sound harsh.

2. Your baby is not a stutable family member to bring to FNM.  They will scream, and cry at that FNM, and piss off everybody.  Trust me I've been in that situation several times.  I know that that is what a baby does, but if FNM is really that important (???) then tell your husband/wife/neighbor/friend to watch over them.

I am all for children at FNM, it promotes the game we love impacting their life, in a positive environment.  They have fun, make some friends, and it will be a life lesson.  You win some, you lose some.  If they haven't learned it yet, or it will be a refresher. :)
