Faeries are cute.  And they pound face.
I made my GF {U}{B} Faeries and this is what happened.

This is what I put together for my gf, picked up pink sleeves, pink deck box, I think did pretty well. Didn't really work though, it hasn't really grabbed her, she respects that I play, but she's just not the kind of person to embrace it(at least I don't have to worry about her sneaking into fnm).

When I first started playing I didn't get excited over cute cards or creatures. I liked the game itself, and I enjoyed winning. The first deck I made for myself was a mono white weenie deck. I agree that for new players, mono colored decks are easily the best to start out on. As a female, I sort of despise all of this "they like cute cards" talk. Make her a deck that has potential to win, she'll appreciate it a hell of a lot more than a {Grizzly Bears} deck.

Why can't it be both cute and win?
Agreed^,^

I guess it can be. But I doubt any deck based solely around how adorable cards are ever won a tournament. On a deeper level, it's just irritating to see females being stereotyped, especially when it comes to this game. As a female, I'm not just seen as "another" player, I'm a "girl player" in most of their eyes, and when people make degrading comments like "haha you got beat by a GIRL" (to my opponent) or "wow, you placed?" (To me, not even knowing how long I've played or what deck I run, only knowing my gender), it makes me want to hit things. So yea, it's not my favorite thing to come on here and read about how much girls "love" cute creatures.

I feel you homie. I ran a Dimir deck during the Gatecrash release and EVERYONE was like "Dimir sucks, but girls like it". I stomped face that day with my Rogues and Ciphers. But it does make me feel good to be recognized as a contender amongst a male-driven sport. Because let's face it, Magic is made up of majority male players. Nevertheless, I'm okay with stomping faces of girls and boys alike :)

My gf tried to enjoy it. She went Esper Tokens. It really wasn't bad. But alas, she doesn't really enjoy it. She mentioned a Cat deck, so I'm building it for her. But if she doesn't want it ill just have a $100 cat tribal deck... Lol

DylanW18

Well, with {Fleecemane Lion} it'll raise a bit. The only real expenses are

2x {Cavern of Souls} $20
4x {Temple Garden} $40
4x {Fleecemane Lion} $30
2x {Raksha Golden Cub} $6
3x {Khemba Kha Regent} $6
4x {Lightning Greaves} $20
For a total of $122 now with Fleecemane

What is the deck you made for her? I've found over the years, the girls I've helped play have liked {W}{G} because they have the cats, bears, wolves and humans and healing, fixing, protecting and nurturing. That's being very general and pigeon holing but I've taught a lot of girls the game over the years (especially lately being a school teacher) and that's averagely the outcome. Blue Faeries with cantrips is another one due to the choice from a full hand ... and cute Faeries.😃

Lol the one I'm teaching isn't that Girly haha she loves beats and dragons! Strong brutes xD

All the girls I see play run some zombie grixis thing, or something similar. (My deck's weakness, mainly... :/ ) A lot of times they won't kill you, they wait for Nicol Bolas to do it...
