Agrus Kos, Enforcer of Truth

This came up in the Theros Spoilers in the Discussion section. If something says "put _____ onto the battlefield" and doesn't say "under your control" it is implied that you will put it under your own control but do you have to? For example could I use {Brood Birthing} and give my opponents the tokens.

I believe that if something says "put it onto the battlefield", you put it onto the battlefield under your control unless otherwise specified.

That's my understanding, but I could be wrong.

{forbidden orchard} effects are the only way to give away brand new tokens. It is indeed implied that the creator is also the controller.

I have been looking and I haven't found a ruling. Do you know of one or is it just a long standing assumption?

Double-O-Scotch

I'm sure it's a rule. You make the token, it comes into play under your control unless otherwise stated on the spell or ability. I'm not, however, going through the 10 billion rules to find it.

Kaleo42

I can guaruntee there is not a rule that says to give them away.
