i agree, but it was released during SoM if memory serves me correctly, so far enough back that it was in no way meant to allude to anything I guess. However, funny you mention the Asian aesthetic of the artwork. I was involved in a convo when {Tamiyo, the Moon Sage} was first seen, combined with the idea that Kiora's teaser image looked Asian, that we would be going back to Kamigawa.

ACTUALLY!!! Now it's just twigged in my head, with the possibility of there being ample Legendaries in a themed set like Theros (having lots of actually characters and icons to base characters on) a return to Kamigawa could be a possibility of the next set after Theros and M15? Just a thought/possibility (which I'm claiming if it comes a reality, haha!)

With Krakens, Leviathans, Merfolk and similar seafaring creatures - it could be a safe bet for Kiora Atua to pop up. Especially coming off a multi color block with Simic in it. The only reason I could possibly imagine for her omission is that it's not multicolored block. But they did say some cards would be gold, if it fit the card.

That seems legit, going back to Kamigawa would be awesome, hopefully they would reprint the dragons as mythics.

I would adore a return to Kamigawa!!! More rats for EDH! More Kirin (based on one of my fav of mythical creatures, Quilin)! And hopefully more Bushido, if anything will get me playing Aggro again...

To be fare to Isamaru, you didn't get a {W} 2/2 without some form of drawback in those days.  This was the first card to do that.  Ignoring the fact that it is legendary but you get the point.  All the other 2/2 one drops had something like sacrifice a creature, or lose 2 life, etc...

I have made noise on here about wanting a return to kamigawa before. However, I'm also hoping to see dinosaur world. But that's either a new plane, or an old plane in the past. Possibly one thats had a major time rift or something

Anyway, if they go back to kamigawa, I hope they design it right this time
