Lol it figures. I'm at my LGS tonight, playing a nice draft and trying to trade for the last couple cards I don't own that I need to put in this deck...

And my friend says "A life drain EDH deck huh? Well you'll need this," and pulls a {Divinity of Pride}

And dammit, he's right. Why do I keep adding cards instead of cutting? I'm bad at Magic.

+ {Divinity of Pride}

- {Evolving Wilds}
- {Falkenrath Noble}

Arzair

Lol, that's the way it is...

When I first started playing EDH, I thought 100 card singleton was so many options... Now I almost always have about 120 when I first start on a deck and hate cutting down and having to make the really hard choices...

my advice is to really consider your overall gameplan, then look at the cards you have chosen
- do they have more than one purpose
- are they good against specific matchups, or do they consistently win games

Play test, play test, play test... Only then will you know what to cut and what to keep...

Good luck Gorzo,

Really looks like a fun deck to play with/against. :)

Congrats

Gorzo

Thanks! Solid advice, I'd give you karma but I already have today ;)

I was just wondering how obzedat is working as your commander he was my first (and my favorite till vorel came along)

Silent1236

Hmmm.  I'm seeing a new EDH deck in my future.

Gorzo

It's crunch time. This is going to hurt.

- {Syphon Life}
- {Reassembling Skeleton}
- {Harvester of Souls}
- {Felidar Umbra}
- {Healer of the Pride}
- {Heroes Remembered}

Ouch. Cutting Heroes Remembered really hurts. And Healer of the pride combos hilariously with {Darien, King of Kjeldor}... But, I just see what else I could have cut.

Any final thoughts/comments on my now complete, 100-card deck, or the cuts that I've made? Input is greatly welcomed!

Edit: dangit, miscount, forgot to include my commander, still need 1 more cut :P

- {Elixir of Immortality} :(

- {Loxodon Warhammer}
+ {Basilisk Collar}

I advise  {Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter} as commander as he is all the lifelink. Also I agree with the other suggestions made!!

I like Vish Kal, and he's a solid card in the deck for sure, but in the play testing I've done so far, Obzedat has been a beast! He jives so well with the Soul Sisters, exquisite blood or sanguine bond, and many other cards with his ETB drain. And there's plenty of cards in here to give him lifelink if he wants it - {True Conviction}, {Vizkopa Guildmage}, {Angelic Skirmisher}... And all with a lower mana cost (5 instead of 7) and protection from all sorcery speed removal, including board wipes. I am really happy with him!

No room for  {Blood Baron of Vizkopa}?

Sadly no, I had to cut him :( he was one of those painful cuts I had to make at the end.

He was essentially just a 4/4 lifelink with pro w/b for 6 mana, as I don't foresee his "opponent at 10 life or less" trigger being reliable enough to count on in a format where players start with 40 life.

Granted, a 4/4 lifelink with protection from 2 colors is still pretty amazing. I probably would have found room if I owned a copy of him (as I did almost all of the other cards here). But having to spend the money or the hassle of finding him in a trade while I had so many other strong options available, and was struggling so hard with cuts, he found his way onto the chopping block.

Wally

Fair call, and totally understandable. :)

I see, I did have him as a commander in a lifegaurding EDH but as his ability is only one opponent I disused against him! But I see how you deck fully exploits his ability!!!

ApexPredator

 {Ghost Council of Orzhova} might be a better option for commander with the new legend rule coming out. Since you can exile him at instant speed you can use that ability in response to them casting a clone spell before they name the target. Just my opinion though. Obzedat is pretty beast.

I do like ghost counsil, but the need to sacrifice a creature to activate him is what puts me off.

At fnm the other night, I got to play against real people and real decks for the first time with this. Holy crap was it fun to play. I might be in love.

However, a friend quickly nabbed a {Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant} from a trade binder that he saw, and traded it to me. Now I have to find room for it! I don't want to cut any more cards! I thought I was done cutting :P

But if you run {Mimic Vat} sacing etb creatures can be fun :)
