Hexproof loophole

So if I have a creature with Hexproof, (like lumberknot) and someone plays a card that says, "creatures opponent control get -1/-1", or "all creatures get -1/-1".or "destroy all creatures" etc, does that effect it because it doesn't say "target creature"? Or is there a loophole there?

If it doesn't say "target" on the card, the card does not target anything, and can hit Hexproof/Shroud creatures. Simple as that!

I covered this topic in the above sticky "Rules Q&A and FAQ" if you're interested in reading a bit more.

Things such as  {Mutilate} and  {Devour Flesh} do indeed work on hexproof creatures due to the fact that they dont target the creature directly.

So yes, -1/-1 counters are a thing as long as it doesnt say "target creature"

No problem! There's many things that go into deciding which one gets stamped as "the answer." I think yours fits more than mine, so you get it!
