I went to my LGS to pick up a box to store my excess commons in, and I bought 5 Mirrodin Besieged packs on a whim, praying for a foil {Mox Opal}.  Needless to say, I was surprised in the first two packs!
P1: {Sword of Body and Mind} Figured I wouldn't pull anything good now that I had gotten one "money" card
P2: {Mox Opal}  Well then....  Not foil, but I sure made my money back.
P3: {Memoricide}
P4: {Kemba, Kha Regent}
P5: {Engulfing Slagwurm} and a foil {Glimmerpost} (nice!)

The last three were not great, but I did get another {Kemba, Kha Regent}.  Don't really know why I like that card so much, but I do!  I was excited that not only did my luck turn around a little bit, but I made a nice profit!  Just thought I'd share :P

If you aren't planning on playing the Opal any time soon, I'd get rid of it around mid July when the new ruling takes effect. Affinity is pretty damn broken in modern with that ruling, Opal is going to go up pretty quick. And then it's gonna get hit with a ban hammer. If I didn't need more money for Modern Masters I'd be holding on to mine until right about then myself.

I had planned on keeping it for a while.  I'm not going to use it, but I do see it going up.  I've already accepted the fact that I'm not getting any MM, so I'm fine with not selling lol

I'm not so sure they would ban opal... I mean by reprint all the affinity staples in MM only to ban a critical card.

It's very unusual for me to get more than 1 opal out in a game (especially early on) wizards bans when decks can consistently kill T3 or sooner, eg eggs & storm. Maybe if affinity picks up and dominates the format like bloodbraid jund did pre banning. I dunno, they do love banning

InfinitiveDivinity

Ban Hammer will make it drop, so of you're looking for value don't wait too long.

Something I've actually been wondering about is the swords. In a few years, will they pick up in price to mirror the old ones?

It's definitely possible. Feast and Famine still has a decent price tag. Body and Mind isn't all that great to begin with though. Also Light and Shadow and Fire and Ice have some pretty insane abilities and very relevant colors

Hard to tell. {Sword of Feast and Famine} is really good, but the original ones are still marginally better. Nothing really tops {Sword of Fire and Ice}, but I can see the Mirrodin swords getting close.

Lol that's why I've always thought it was weird that B&M was the one printed in FTV:R. Why not F&F or at least W&P?

Idk, it made for a cheap foil for me though 😝

B&M has really relevant colors in EDH though. (currently running the FTV foil in  isamaru :D) the wolf tokes make good chump blockers too lol

It was printed to get more people to buy FtV relics. It also was used as a spoiler for scars of mirrodin.
