Buying a booster box need help

Which standard booster box generally has the best return on investment per pack value? I want to expand my trade binder and a gamble like this seemed to be a good idea.

My buddy did rtr and he got garbage. One abrupt decay, the other 35 had nothing worthwhile. No deathrites, no revs, nothing. Felt really bad for him. But really innistrad? I could do that and pray to everything for a foil lily.

Probably Innistrad or RtR. However, the best way to get what you need is to buy singles. All day every day

But i really just want a 💩 ton of rares for trading purposes. Everything i need is from avacyn but i never liked the odds packs had from that set.

A bad box is disheartening but rtr has a ton of decent value overall.

Innistrad for sure before it gets too expensive

RTR holds the best average value out of the block but DGM is fairly new also

If you're looking to get a set, go with DGM

I got plenty of extra rares to trade with a box pull

Was short 11 cards of a full set

And the commons are going to stay in other formats IMO

I couldn't disagree more. Buying a box of dragons maze would be one of the biggest wastes of money you could do. Buy a fall set. Wizards isn't stupid anymore, and they seem to be putting the eternally playable cards in the sets that get opened the most (the fall one)

I'll clarify for you rod

If he's trying to get a SET he should go DGM

If he's pulling a box for trades he should go RTR or Innistrad


It's $100 for a box, if you and friends want to have a blast, buy a box and draft, if you bought it you can keep all the cards and give any rares etc away for whoever joins you in the box pull

And if you're looking for hot trades, well DGM could be the best bet as those cards are most likely at their highest value (look at Gideon from Gatecrash now!)

Lets say Rod he pulls two Voices and a Ral, along with Blood baron

He has a lot of hot trades he can barter with to get more legacy and older cards that are more rare

Had some kid want a legend from DGM so bad he traded a card twice the value and he was stoked on the trade.
So that can be considered also in purchasing a box....plus who wants to wait till Fall???

I've said it many times, and I'll say it again, Innistrad.  The RtR block has little eternal value, whereas Innistrad is great.  Return to Ravnica wouldn't be bad, DGM and GTC would be a waste of money, methinks.

Agreed. And one other word of caution: they printed so much RtR that I believe the prices can only go down.

Kangarod makes a good point. Singles are just the best use of your money. But I suspect you're more excited about opening packs than getting your collection complete. And why not? Booster boxes are like going fishing. if you want to eat go buy a fish. If you want to have fun go wade in a stream and maybe catch a big one or maybe bust your line. At the end if the day it's not about the fish, it's about the experience.

I only got like 3 guildgates, and that's all the special lands I've gotten, but I'm going to go back to RtR and try for some more good cards.

For dragons maze u have to Essentialy pull multiple  {Voice of Resurgence} then sell them right away
