New kids!!!,

At my local game store we have had some 11-12 year olds coming to the Fnm and making some silly trades with the older players, even after the old player and about 6 other people have pointed out, that the deal is much better for the older player,
Example:
My mate josh has a  {Glissa, the Traitor} for trade, a kid who looks about 11-12 says he will trade a  {Domri Rade} for the glissa.
Josh and 8 other people told the kid that he would lose out on about $17 of value about, but the kid was insistent, and josh and the kid shook on it, my mate josh then traded it for some cards he need of another play and hour later, the kid asked josh 5 mins after that if they could trade back, but my mate no longer had the card and that had shaken on the trade with witnesses, so legal binding transaction

I want to stop these kids ripping themselves of like this, how should I stop this?

Tell 'em they can have more until they = however much the card they're trading is worth.  I don't think they'll mind more than they were planing.

All you do is warn them like you did and let them learn then if they still go through with it inform the older player that you will no longer help or trade with them if they go through with it. If you get enough people to do that with you it should put a stop to it. Some kids will do this because they have no concept on how much money you can sink into this game because mommy and daddy will just buy more stuff for them. Another thing you can do is inform you lgs that this is happening and see what they want to do abought it. Im sure if they care abought there revenu from mom and pop droping hundres of bucks for jr they will put a stop to this. My friend has a stake in a local shop and one thing he did was start having age restriced tournaments early on saturdays to avoid the older kids ripping them off. Also you can't make a legal binding contract with a non adult it's against the law in the US. So one way for the store to stop it is to have players trade in front of a store rep with and Id.

Maybe he was being nice. I wouldn't sweat it. If you inform someone and they still don't heed the information, what can ya do?

Then its just him being stubborn and he will learn to not do that eventually and when he does it will hit him hard

I run into this a lot at my LGS. It got to the point some of the more seasoned players stopped trading with them because they felt guilty.

If they know the value and still take the trade there really is nothing tha you can do.....

I always tell kids "pick out more cards from my binder. Please." I traded a nine year old for a foil {Snapcaster Mage} recently. She wanted to return some of my cards  because she thought she ripped me off! Lol I explained that I traded over value because I really wanted the card. She was over the moon.

Sadly though, I know many adults who would rip off children (or new players) in trades without blinking an eye.

My former friend used to try to rip new players off, but I knew to stop, because I thought he was better then it.  He wasn't though, the only reason I hang out with him now is to make sure he doesn't rip people off.

And I agree with learning the hard way, because after I had a bad trade with an {Olivia Voledran}, I never had a bad trade again.

Different game but when I played yugioh all trades had to be approved by the store owner, and unless something like that is in place kids will still get ripped off.

I know this feeling, seen about 6-8 people rip off some new kids who came into the shop. One kid opened a foil liliana of the veil from his 3rd ever booster pack and a guy gave him literally 15 1-2$ rares for it and smiled an walked away. Then about 5 minutes later another kid traded his foil cavern of souls for omniscience and breeding pool to another guy. I went and said something and the guy told me to mind my own business lol.

I'm lucky where I go we have no one that would rip off new player or kids that know nothing and if someone can't get the price of a card we just ask this person his names mika and ik that's spelled wrong
he's been playing since unlimited edition and knows the price of almost every card you ask the price for, he's always a fair trader andwould never rip someone off
We have had a couple kids come to my LGS and almost make stupid trades but they were fix before the trade was done
