Eggs in Modern

What happens IMO. Is someone comes up with a good deck and wins. Since we are in a time where data travels fast everyone hears about it or sees it. So now it hits the net and everyone wants to put there little spin on it or just steal the whole deck list. Now there are a few people who keep there home brew and keep getting beat by the flavor of the month, that 7 out of 8 people are using. That's why there is so much hate

They are just ill informed and are following the hate for a deck they have never played. I enjoy the deck because of it's complexity, but that is for another time.

Gotta remember, you aren't the only one playing the game, though.  Yes, complex decks that make you really think about what you need to play are fun for the person playing them, but playing against a deck that takes this long is no fun for the person against it.  That doesn't go for just eggs.  It's the same for grinding decks like turbo fog, as well.  I have a blast playing turbo fog, but there's been times where my opponent sits there forever waiting for their deck to mill out.

There was a lot of money on the line for Cifka, but is eggs really a necessary deck to play kitchen table or even at an fnm or anything that's not super competitive and high stakes?  Everyone loves to win, but everyone loves to actually enjoy the game they're playing.  Just my 2 cents.

And as for the turn two deal, I'll definitely agree there.  Lot of pieces necessary to consistently win T2

I never said I was the only one playing the game. I merely stated that those people who are shouting "Eggs wins turn 2 all the time, the deck sooo broken and stupid" did not know what they were talking about. For me it is very simple. I like to challenge myself with complex and intricate plays/decks (hence why I always play control or combo). That is what is fun about magic to me. I like the complexity that goes into these designs. It is the only reason I play the game and why I sink so much money into it. It should not matter if it is an FNM or a Pro Tour. I should be able to enjoy what I like about the game. On the opposition's side, they have the right to enjoy their reasons too. But what you are suggesting is that I not play Eggs at an FNM because others do not like it? I do not like aggro, so people should not play it at FNM right? It works both ways, so you cannot hold people like myself to a double standard. We enjoy a different aspect of the game then those who do not. If it is unfun for them, then that it not mine or anyone else's problem. We have every right to enjoy the decks we build at FNM too, so there really is no argument here. Adaptability is a true trait of magic play whether it be competitive or casual. Over the past few years, adaptability in the playerbase has gone down. When I began to play this game, you found a way around the things you did not like or you lost. It was that simple. In these days of magic, people just whine and cry to mama WotC to ban something or make the bad stuff go away. It is almost childish, but I digress. I am not blaming WotC either. They are a company and their first priority is making money. People should look around for answers instead of expecting others to do the work for them. That is just my opinion though.

TL;DR

If you have the right to turn your cards sideways to win the way you enjoy, then I have the same right to draw cards, counter spells, and take 20 minute turns to win in the way I enjoy.

Silent1236

I'm not trying to say "Ban it because I don't like it" or "Don't play it because I don't like it." People like to play eggs. To each his own, I suppose. And it's been many moons since I've played aggro. "Play, turn sideways" hasnt been fun in years.   I love having to think about what I'm going to do when I play. The problem with eggs, however, is that when you start your combo-ing, your opponent can't just scoop since there is a very real possibility for itto just fizzle an you lose the next turn. But, when you do start combo-ing, your turns are going to take a 3-5 turn game to time. Sure {Rest In Peace}/{Leyline of Sanctity}, hell, even {Mana Leak}, can throw the combo off and lose you the game, but, like you said, you'll have answers for it, and G2 could easily be just as long as G1.

I agree, the banhammer comes down on things it didn't really need to too often. Its really pretty dumb that {Bloodbraid Elf} got banned. But, Im not whining about having to dog for answers to eggs, I'm saying eggs makes games legitimately unfair and unfun for everyone playing against it. You may not like aggro decks, but they are much easier to answer. Very straightforward. Eggs has to be stopped in thefirst turn or two, or it's just a thrown game. You can put a stop to aggro midgame.

I'm not saying "don't play eggs.." You have every right to!  I'm just saying keep in mind that others want to play as well. Even if it is just "Land, go." Control decks like to keep them from playing spells, eggs just keeps them from playing ;)

I'm sure there are some aggro strategies where you have to think about what your doing. In fact, now that you said that, I'm going to try an come up with one

There is some strategy involved in aggro.  Just not as much as other decks.

MisterJH

Its just a pain in the nuts

Eggs didn't even place at this particular tournament. It's not broken. I'm not being ignorant. I'm just bitching because its not fun to play against. I believe I have the right to complain about decks I find obnoxious.

There are cards that just completely destroy eggs though like  {Rest in Peace},  {Leyline of the Void},  {Leyline of Sanctity},  {Pithing Needle}, and  {Phyrexian Revoker} are cards eggs just cant beat
What would you pithing needle? I may play against it on FNM.

I'd probably go with {Lotus Bloom}

Wouldn't that be a mana ability?

-_- yep haha.  Nevermind that!

That brings up a good point, though.  There really isn't much you can {Pithing Needle} unless they happen to be using {Pyrite Spellbomb} or something.

Sorry if I came off the wrong way. I was not insinuating you are that kind of player. I was just stating what I feel to be the current truth about the magic populace. It was more of a general statement than anything else ;)

Ignorance is defined as "Lack of knowledge or information". Your statement was "I didn't know eggs was supposed to go off on turn two. This guy I played didn't know the deck too well then I'm guessing". That is ignorance. I apologize if it s not what you want to hear, but you were ill informed and made a false generalize judgment. I have nothing against you, I merely just called you out on it. Yeah, you have every right to complain about decks you hate. People do that all of the time. But on that same token I have the same right to keep playing the deck I want regardless of what you think about it. Please consider that before making such hasty statements. Hate Eggs with a burning passion if you like. I think people need something like that to motivate them in new ways. However, keep in mind that when you bring this hatred to a public forum; expect people to not agree with you all of the time. If you think it is not fun to play against, then do not put yourself in a position to play it. You can always concede at anytime or just stay away from Modern until it gets axed. I honestly feel this is the next deck on the chopping block. I personally feel it is not broken, but WotC caters to those who whine about problems without finding solutions. There has been a lot of whining about this deck. Naturally, Mama WotC will take care of the issue so the crossover players from other games will move on to another subject to whine about.

Bman0121

You would  {Pithing Needle}  {Pyrite Spellbomb}
