I played against Eggs for the first time in a modern tourney on Sunday. Man, it was practically torture waiting 20 minutes to lose game one. It was easy enough to stop though. Side boarded  {Rest in Peace} and was lucky enough to play it turn two in our second game and my opponent scooped. I comboed out on turn four game three. (I played 4 color birthing pod). I went 3-1 placed third. My fiancĂ© was playing red affinity and went 4-0 placing first. Overall, I was not impressed with Eggs. Should something in the combo be banned in your opinion? It's just so miserably slow.

YES!  I'd say ban {Lotus Bloom}.

Man, eggs has become a hot topic recently. If this is where modern is going now that {Bloodbraid Elf} is gone and Storm is hurting, then unban the elf and the storm piece!!

Yeah, I forgot which card was banned for storm :P

{Seething Song} banned for storm.

I agree that something needs to be banned. Consistently turn 3 wins is crazy overpowered. I got lucky he had a slow hand game three. I love modern and in my opinion Jund with  {Bloodbraid Elf} is preferable to eggs.

Keep  {Lotus Bloom} that way eggs can be still a deck but it would be a turn 3 or 4 deck i say ban  {Reshape} so that eggs cant go off turn 2 every single game

My friend actually got me wanting to play modern. Then I saw eggs. Like 5 people playing them. I'm not playing modern until eggs is banned. Losing turn 2 every game is not what I consider fun :/

There are cards that just completely destroy eggs though like  {Rest in Peace},  {Leyline of the Void},  {Leyline of Sanctity},  {Pithing Needle}, and  {Phyrexian Revoker} are cards eggs just cant beat

Would {blood raid elf} work in naya zoo?

Tricky part is you need to stick two pieces of hate because they run  {Echoing Truth} after game 1

I didn't know eggs was supposed to go off on turn two. This guy I played didn't know the deck too well then I'm guessing.

People's ignorance never cease to amaze me. I for one pilot Eggs every month in our Modern tournaments. The deck is not designed to go off turn two like people claim it is. They are just ill informed and are following the hate for a deck they have never played. I enjoy the deck because of it's complexity, but that is for another time. Eggs has gotten quite dominate over the past season. I suspect a ban for one on the Sunrise effects, or it WotC wants to kill the deck completely, then Lotus Bloom.

Also, nobody bring up the turn two argument again. I will admit that Cifka's cantrip list he won the Pro Tour with (also the version I play) can win on turn two. But it has nothing to do with skill. The deck rarely does that and it only tends to happen one in every one hundred games or so. For it to happen, then planets have to align and you need to spot a unicorn jumping over a rainbow on the third Wednesday of snowy July morning.

Gotta remember, you aren't the only one playing the game, though.  Yes, complex decks that make you really think about what you need to play are fun for the person playing them, but playing against a deck that takes this long is no fun for the person against it.  That doesn't go for just eggs.  It's the same for grinding decks like turbo fog, as well.  I have a blast playing turbo fog, but there's been times where my opponent sits there forever waiting for their deck to mill out.

There was a lot of money on the line for Cifka, but is eggs really a necessary deck to play kitchen table or even at an fnm or anything that's not super competitive and high stakes?  Everyone loves to win, but everyone loves to actually enjoy the game they're playing.  Just my 2 cents.

And as for the turn two deal, I'll definitely agree there.  Lot of pieces necessary to consistently win T2
