Why can a Mirran crusader be killed by black sun zenith even though he has protection from black and green?

Protection from a color protects from "targeting" and damage from spells.  If a card uses a the word "target" then it can't touch him but {black suns zenith} gives ALL creatures -1/1 counters, thus bypassing the word "target".  Works the same that a pro white creature could be killed by {day of judgement}.  Also important to note that a pro red creature could not be killed by {pyroclasm} since protection does prevent damage.  Capice 👌

Exactly!
I always use DEBT to remember what protection does:

D - Damage is prevented
E - Equip/Enchanting is prevented. (e.g. a pro-black creature can't be equipped or enchanted by black permanents)
B - Blocking is prevented
T - Targetting is prevented.

So a black creature can't block a {Mirran Crusader}?   Or can it block but not give any damage to the crusader.  Everytime I play my {Mirran Crusader} my opponents block and not give any damage.   What is the correct path

BlackJester

Black creatures cannot block pro-blacks.
