 {Force Spike}

Why does nobody play it? Its so good in modern where people tap out a lot (atleast against aggro)

Silent1236

It's not modern legal...

That is pretty good for one mana. Like  {Mana Leak} only cheaper. I honestly think those are worse than {Cancel} or  {Counterspell}.

this card literally has trainwrecked some edh decks when i played spike against them. ohh you tapped out to play your general/important game changer? force spike.... *reaction* WAIT WHAT? THAT'S A CARD????

It's not modern legal...
why?

Because it just isn't.

To elaborate, modern legal sets are anything from 8th edition to the present. Anything in the modern card frame. Special sets {like Duel Decks) don't count.

it's from seventh edition. modern legal starts with eighth edition
oh. I thought it was modern legal since its in the izzet vs golgari duel decks

Mikefrompluto

Duel Decks don't count unless its was modern legal beforehand.

The big modern one I see is {Spell Pierce}. However, for casual play, I do like {Force Spike}

Same for me.

I use  {Flusterstorm} in the sideboard of my legacy deck.  {Force Spike} is super conditional but very effective when opponents tap out, ala  {Daze}. I also saw  {Disrupt} while browsing. Good, yea? Draw a card for {U} and counter a spell.

I like {Disrupt}.  I run 2 in my casual mono blue mill.  I like it for forcing them to tap another land and even if the spell isn't countered, you still get a draw from it.

And that is some sweet flavor on the Invasion edition!

There is really none of the legacy staple counter spells allowed in modern because as a general rule they are not fun to play against

But  {Second Sunrise} is? Come on... At least with control decks I don't take 10 minute turns.
