Fiend Hunter and Cloudshift/restoration angel

Can someone please explain this to me that's in Layman's Terms how this combo works. To be more specific, why would a creature become exiled permanently as a result from cloudshifting/ restoration angel(ing?). Is it because the first Fiend hunter techibally ceased to exist but the first ability stacks? If so can someone explain that to me as well because I only half understand. Thank you.

This comes down to triggers, and the stack.


Fiend Hunter has an enters the battlefield triggered ability and a leaves the battlefield triggered ability. When Fiend Hunter ETBs, its first triggered ability triggers. If you cause Fiend Hunter to LTB before the ETB ability resolves (by {Cloudshift} or otherwise), then the LTB ability will trigger and go onto the stack above the ETB ability. Then, there will be nothing for the LTB ability to return and no way for the creature the ETB ability exiles to be returned.
