I know I meant card effect wise.  What do you think his abilities are?

BTW yes we all know he's a blend of red-blue AWESOMNESS!!!  Other plainswalkers won't stand a chance. Except {Jace the Mindsculptor}.

I'm pretty sure that this interpretation is like RTR's Jace.  Nobody likes the last ability but the first 2 are solid, but the first one can get VERY broken...

I'm pretty sure most people feel the same way, people like me.  There is a high chance he is in it due to the fact he has already integrated himself into artwork and quotes.  Look at {Homing Lighting} as an example!

I'd say copying is a guarantee with his gate crash card {Homing Lightning}. But what about a more blue centered ability? Makes me wonder.

Flavor-wise, it makes sense. Just give him some toned-down abilities and make him a bit better than Tibalt. Just my 2 cents. Something like:
Ral Zarek, Electrocaster
{U}{R}
2 loyalty
+1 Deals 1 damage to target creature or player and each creature that shares a [name/type] with it
-2 Draw two cards, then discard a card
-4 until end of turn, you may cast up to 3 instants or sorceries without paying their mana costs.

Obviously it still needs work, but Ral @ the 2 slot would be sweet.
Bear in mind that in the second book which released earlier this month, Ral uses a lot of electricity. That is his "power" (as Chandra is to fire) seemingly.

Interesting for a 2-drop.  Sure this design needs some work, but with a 2-drop ral zarek maybe we can forget about you-know-who.

They've had a {U}{R} planeswalker in the RtR block already so I'm hoping a PW slot goes to {U}{G}. If he is in there, and based on his story, I'd guess:

Ral, Reckless Researcher
2 colorless {U}{R}

[+1] deal 1 damage to target creature or player (penchant for firing off electricity)

[-x] copy target instant or sorcery where x is that spells cmc. (Stealing from jace and niv)

[-4] cast an instant or sorcery spell from any graveyard without paying its mana cost.  (discovery of the leyline)

1 loyalty counter (though he doesn't even seem that loyal😉)
