Couple of things NOT to expect:
- a "return" to something.
- a multi-colored block: MaRo stated that in retrospect Alara didn't do well because people were tired of multi-color from Lorwyn super block.
- a tribal block: Innistrad was arguably a tribal block, we're just about to leave too.
- the "code names" to give you any information about the set. Listen to Mark Rosewater's podcast about code names. "Friends", "Romans" and "Countrymen" won't be a Roman themed block.

We will see what happens, but MaRo said it was a new world, won't be multi-color and that he's very excited to show everyone. This is year 3 of the 7 year plan. So far it contains the 2 highest selling blocks in the history of the game Innistrad and Return to ravnica

Where do you hear about the new block?

Mark Rosewater has a blog (here) he answers questions, talks about what he can talk about (he can't talk about what he can't talk about), gets hit by buses (a bit inside humor) and does a good job of explaining all of the aspects of the game. It's a daily must read for me. I've even had him answer some questions.

Edit: he hasn't explicitly talked about the new block. But over the year he's been making mention of things like back-to-back multicolored blocks, he did a podcast about how codenames have absolutely no bearing on the actual set.

Additionally, ComicCon is tomorrow right? We will likely get some information then. Wizards has a panel, they probably won't waste the opportunity. In the past they've always announced the fall set sometime in Spring. Take that as you will.

I believe the "thousands of years in our future" as not actually a clue....I took that from Mark Rosewater "Tales from the Pit" cartoon with {Joven} talking to {Chandler} (a joke about the next sets code name "Friends")

I think they were speaking of the thousands of years in their future...as in the Magic Multiverse. But it is definelty a new set!

I see a lot of people asking about the announcement of "Friends", so here is a recap : - Shards of Alara : March 18; - Zendikar : March 25; - SoM : March 18; - Innistrad : March 14; - RtR : April 09. But Return to Ravnica was previously announced in PAX East, hence this date. Anyway, ), everybody should keep an eye open for the next two mondays (11 and 18), and/or PAX East (March 23).
