Mickey the Unhallowed...Counters?

My friend said that {Mikaeus the Unhallowed}'s +1/+1 effect is actually not a counter. It makes sense because it just says "creatures get +1/+1"...not counters. But it it true?

This would make his undying effect a tad bit more useful.

U r right otherwise his undying effect would negate itself.

If it were to add counters it would state it. If it says creatures get +X/+X then its a passive buff with no counters
